The Farm Così Com’è

"What a mistake it was to turn away from nature! In its variety, in its beauty
in its cruelty, in its infinite, unequalled greatness there is the whole meaning of life."

(Tiziano Terzani)

The challenges humanity will face in the coming years will be numerous and difficult, all of which will emphasise environmental issues.

The pandemic and the resulting health emergency are making us increasingly responsible and aware that living without taking care of the environment will have very negative repercussions on the planet and future generations.

This has become humanity’s priority mission today: to restore the relationship between man and nature!

We will have to change the way we live, eat, work, build, move, consume.
Change will come through knowledge, culture, research, innovation.

It is precisely from these premises that the desire to realise the Fattoria Così Com’è project takes strength, a project that is integrated into the landscape that welcomes it, that fits into a natural context enhancing it and becoming intimately connected to it, that looks to the future by combining beauty and functionality, culture and nature, that intends to open up to the knowledge of the scientific disciplines of natural environments addressing all generations, from the youngest to the oldest.

The FarmCosì Com’è project wants to go back to the past, renewing it by transmitting the deepest concept of being As It Is, without filters and artifices, relying on sincerity and transparency, as only Nature knows how to be, remaining passionate and aware that we are only passenger guests on this planet.

The Farm Così Com’è project includes the realisation of several interventions:

The Researcher’s Shelter

Finagricola - La Sala del Gusto

It will be the place for research activities applied to the agricultural world, ranging from the study of innovative materials and processes (biodegradable, compostable) to the recovery and valorisation of agricultural and agro-industrial waste. It will be a hotbed of ideas and, above all, solutions to problems in the world of agriculture and beyond, paying particular attention to the effects these problems have on the natural environment.

A 1,000 square metre research centre built underground on the farm’s hillock, entirely covered by a roof garden populated by ancient olive trees and aromatic plants, interspersed with large openings in the ceiling that let in plenty of natural light.

The Farm

Seven hectares of land populated by centuries-old olive trees, orchards and vegetable gardens will bear natural and healthy products.

It will also be an opportunity to show visitors the agricultural activities of tradition and those of our near future.

In fact, these places will see the first large-scale applications of the innovative technologies and materials being studied by the research centre, allowing their environmental and economic sustainability to be verified before they are distributed to the farms that wish to adopt them.

A large greenhouse of 2,000 square metres made of steel and glass will be the place where the innovative technologies and materials will be tested on a pilot scale and thus immediately before being transferred to large-scale production processes on farms.

The greenhouse will be equipped with high-tech systems for fertigation, artificial lighting, and indoor air conditioning, with the support of energy production systems from renewable sources.

Over 1,000 square metres of vertical garden that will entirely envelop an above-ground structure, giving it a second skin, natural, iridescent, sensitive to the changing seasons and above all alive, breathing and nourished by the fundamental elements: earth, water and sun.

This structure will also house a tasting room, a place to delight the senses while being immersed in a relaxing landscape capable of soothing the fatigue of the mind and above all the soul, delighting the palate with the farm’s natural products.

The Lodges

Places surrounded by greenery where we can enjoy nature 24 hours a day, day and night, taking the opportunity to pause the hectic and accelerated life we are increasingly overwhelmed by.

Various scientific experiments have demonstrated the innumerable benefits that nature has on our mood, morale, cognitive capacity, basically on our physical and mental health.

Spending time in a completely natural environment is an opportunity to rebalance our lives, teaching us to live them in a different way.
